What do I do when someone is being noisy in quiet or silent library spaces?
Answer
The common areas in the 5th floor library common area and study rooms are for quiet study with, at most, short, whispered talking. The Olivas-Reyes reading room is for silent study, with no talking allowed at all.
If you feel that anyone is not using those areas as intended, you can do one of three things.
- Remind them that the area is intended for quiet or silent study, and as them to be quiet.
- Walk down to the 4th floor library circulation desk, and tell them that people are being louder than they should.
- Start a chat session with a reference librarian by pressing the linked text or the button on the bottom right of every library website.
